It is with mixed feelings that I view the World Cup. On one hand like any other Englishman I would like to see us win. On the other, whenever we play in the competition, business takes a right nosedive.

This time round we thought we had cracked it, instead of waiting for the customers to come to us, we thought we'd go to the customer. In conjunction with lightmedia displays we attended a world cup funday at the Bingley Sports club. Lightmedia specialise in giant screens like you see at concerts etc. This time they were screening the opening match of Englands campaign. We thought the event could prove a succesful one, but in the end it was just about worth attending, possibly the £10 entrance fee charged was just too much.

The next day brought an upturn in business at an event in Blackpool we attended with Wave radio, a Blackpool based station. Renny ran this event on his own, and he reported that it had been a worthwhile day, and an event that could over time build up into a big one, it also marked our most Westerly expansion thus far.

Another couple of charity events came our way this week, one for the Wakefield and District samaritans held at the Sandal RUFC, a venue we have presented attractions at in the past, and the other at Old Trafford, legendary home of the Manchester United football team. This continues our run of charity events this season, and brings our total of new events since January to almost 40.

We had 2 events cancelled over the Whitsuntide holiday, most of the remaining events suffered due to the weather so it was a bit of a setback overall. On the brighter side we picked up 2 new events in Yorkshire so its nice to have some work closer to home. We've also began receiving offers of events directly from councils so we must be doing something right.

We've also continued with our policy of working at the prestige end of the market, when we recently placed a candy floss unit in the House of Fraser at Nottingham for a two day period, timed to coincide with a visit from the companies managing director.
